Statesman Names RJ Martinez Player of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RJ Martinez, QB, Westwood

The Warrior junior completed 50 of 74 passes for 602 yards and accounted for all 10 of his team's touchdowns in a 77-69 loss to Cedar Ridge. Martinez fired seven touchdown passes and rushed for 173 yards and three more scores. His 50 completions tied a high school state record set by Paul Millard of Flower Mound in 2009. His 74 attempts fell one shy of the state record set by Johnny Manziel of Kerrville Tivy in 2010.

Tahj Brooks, RB, Manor: The Mustang senior rushed for 177 yards and scored three TDs in a 49-24 loss to Cedar Park.

Kyle Brown, QB, Vista Ridge: The Ranger junior passed for 405 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another score in a 41-38 victory over Round Rock.

Nathan Davis, RB, Akins: The Eagle playmaker rushed for 242 yards and four TDs in a 40-28 victory over Lehman.

Dru Dawson, QB, Vandegrift: The Viper senior accounted for 235 passing and rushing yards and two TDs in a 20-17 win over Stony Point.

Jasiya Demps, RB, Hendrickson: The Hawk junior rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown in a 34-15 victory over McNeil.

Grayson Doggett, QB, Hutto: The Hippo sophomore passed for 231 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-15 victory over Rouse.

Anthony Haynes, RB/LB, LBJ: The Jaguar junior rushed for 160 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns in a 42-17 win over Seguin. He also had five tackles and forced a fumble.

Michael Herzog, WR/DB, Thorndale: The Bulldog junior caught an 83-yard TD pass and scored on a 75-yard kickoff return in a 55-10 victory over Marlin.

Derrick Johnson, DB, Lake Travis: The Cavalier sophomore had eight tackles, forced a fumble and broke up a pass in a 49-14 win over Anderson.

Zane Minors, RB, Westlake: The Chaparral junior rushed 12 times for 143 yards and three TDs in a 63-0 victory over Bowie.

Andrew Mukuba, WR/DB, LBJ: The Jaguar junior caught four passes for 107 yards and three touchdowns and returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a score in the win over Seguin. On defense, he contributed four tackles and broke up two passes.

Lane Otto, QB, Smithville: The Tiger senior accounted for 144 rushing and passing yards and scored three TDs in a 21-2 victory over Caldwell.

JJ Parker, DB, Vandegrift: The Viper senior had 13 tackles, two for losses, in the victory over Stony Point.

Braylon Sugg, DE, Hutto: The Hippo junior had seven tackles, four for losses, and two sacks and a quarterback pressure in the win over Rouse.

Andon Thomas, LB, Liberty Hill: The Panther sophomore had 14 tackles and a sack in a 31-7 victory over Canyon Lake.

Deuce Vaughn, RB, Cedar Ridge: The Raider senor rushed for 302 yards and scored four touchdowns in the victory over Westwood.

Ace Whitehead, QB, Lampasas: The Badger junior passed for 317 yards, rushed for 91 yards, accounted for six TDs, kicked a field goal and booted six PATs in a 47-35 victory over Fredericksburg.

Jace Wilson, QB, Del Valle: The Cardinal playmaker passed for 314 yards and four TDs in a 56-42 loss to Hays.

Desmond Young, QB, Bastrop: The Bear senior rushed for 135 yards, passed for 93 yards and accounted for three TDs in a 26-14 victory over Glenn.

Oliver Yu, WR, Westwood: The Warrior senior caught 18 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to Cedar Ridge.
