Bio

Lindsey Hedberg was a very accomplished player at Westwood. She, along with her sister Ashley, won two state championships in girls doubles while at Westwood, and they helped lead the Westwood team of 1998-1999 to the state finals! She also loved being with her teammates. After her four years at Westwood, she went to college at San Diego State University, where she repeatedly was ranked in the NCAA top 100 and, as team captain, led San Diego State to a Mountain West conference title in her senior year! In addition to being an outstanding tennis player, she was a great student off the court, as she was on the dean's list and was named to the academic all-conference team. Tennis is still a very large part of Lindsey's life, as she is a coach at San Diego State University. She also teaches privately. Lindsey believes that being part of the tennis team at Westwood has helped her in many ways. It has helped her learn the communication skills necessary to deal with different personalities. The competitive nature of the team helped her learn the communication skills necessary to deal with people under adverse situations. Also, she believes that being on a team at a young age (like high school) helped prepare her for life's ups and downs and taught her how to use these to create the best possible situation. Finally, she believes that being on the team helped her learn important skills like time management, accountability, and preparation, which she believes are necessary life skills. For up and coming players, Lindsey believes that the best thing that they can do is to do their best to be their best, and to lead others with that example.
