Bio

     Coach Travis Dalrymple is currently in his fifteenth year of coaching here at Westwood and is glad to be home.  He graduated from Westwood High School in 2000 and played tennis all four years under Coach James Hood.  While playing for the Westwood tennis team, the team won District and ranked in the top ten in State every year.  Coach Dalrymple captained the team his senior year and also won two District Championships in Doubles.

     After high school, he chose to attend Southwest Texas State University.  While at school, he majored in Exercise and Sport Science and earned teaching certifications in Math, Sociology and P.E.  He was President of his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order, won Tennis Intramurals three times and was Collegiate Champion in Ping Pong.

     After college, Coach Dalrymple began his coaching career at Stony Point High School.  He worked at Stony Point for four years and turned a zero win team into Regional Qualifiers in 2008.  He also captured two District Championships in Doubles and Mixed Doubles and sent six kids to Regionals.  All of which were firsts in school history.  Coach Dalrymple was named Capital Area Tennis Association Coach of the Year in 2007. 

          While at Westwood, he has won 13 straight District Titles and had his team ranked in the top 10 in the State the last 10 years.  His team won the 6A Team Tennis State Championship in 2018, 2020, and 2022.  They are the current defending State Champions and are looking to maintain their high level of success.  The 2020 team was ranked #1 in the Nation by Universal Tennis Rating.  He was 2017 & 2018 District Coach of the Year, 2017 Region 2 Coach of the Year, 2018 CATA Coach of the year, 2018 Texas Coach of the year, 2019 National High School Federation Coach of the Year, 2020 UTR National High School Coach of the Year, and 2023 Texas High School Coaches Association Tennis Coach of the Year.  Coach Dalrymple has had 32 kids make the individual state tournament the last few years resulting in 6 State Championships with 2013 Boys Singles State Champion Miguel Alda, 2017 Girls Singles State Champion Kiana Graham, 2021 Mixed Doubles State Champions Kinaa Graham & Sachchit Sivaram, 2021 Boys Doubles State Champions Daniel Antov & Marko Mesarovic, 2022 Girls Singles State Champion Kinaa Graham, and 2022 Boys Doubles State Champions Aadhi Raja & Aashish Dhanani.  He currently has former players playing collegiate tennis at the University of Texas, Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma State University, M.I.T., SMU, WashU, Villanova, Columbia, Trinity University, Swarthmore, Southwestern University, Seattle University, Cal-Tech, University of Arkansas - Ft. Smith, Whittier and UT-Dallas.

     He loves being Assistant Athletic Coordinator and wants to be a resource and support all of the sports and coaches at Westwood.  He currently puts on all the Pep Rallies at Westwood, is helping refresh all of our facilities, runs many committees at Westwood and sponsors 4 clubs.

     Throughout High School and College, Coach Dalrymple was a Teaching Pro at Great Hills Country Club.  Also, he has been the Director of Sports Camps at Great Hills Country Club and Sports Country Camp in Dripping Springs.  More recently, he has worked as a traveling Tennis Pro and has spent time teaching tennis at five star resorts in Jamaica, Mexico and the Bahamas.  

     Coach Dalrymple met his wife Lindsey in college and they have been married 14 years now.  She works in the IT department at a student housing company  They have a daughter Reese, who is 11 years old, son named Smith, who is 9, and Fields who just turned 3.  His sister, Tracy and cousin Neil were also Westwood tennis players.
