Jasmine Filut ‘17 was the last match the team needed to claim Districts once again and beat McNeil in a dominant match 10-0. “I am proud of myself and team because of how hard we word together,” Filut ‘17 said. Tennis has taught her that with confidence, one can achieve a lot more in life. The way players carry themselves on or off court — whether they’re winning or losing — can really make the difference in their personalities.

Filut started playing tennis at age 5, and by the time she was 12 years old, she started competing in tournaments. “Tennis is a sport that has physical challenges to keep your body in shape, to improve your strokes daily, but a majority of the winning of matches come from the mentality. Keeping yourself pumped up can be hard at times when you’re losing, and when you’re losing, you have doubts in your mind. The players who overcome these obstacles in their mind prove to be the best player on court.”
