NCAA Tennis

The Westwood Tennis team will have 2 moving on to play NCAA tennis next year.  On Wednesday, May 5th, the two seniors signed letters of intent to play collegiate tennis.  Kiana Graham has signed with SMU and Gaurav Singh has signed with WashU.  Both players are incredible competitors and will be bringing their talents to the next level.

Kiana Graham is the most decorated athlete in Westwood history winning the State Championship in Girls Singles her freshman year and leading the team to the Team State Championship her Junior year.  In the spring of her Junior year, she teamed with Gaurav Singh and made the State Finals in Mixed Doubles.  That's two golds and a silver if you're keeping track.  She is a 7 time District Champion and has a great chance to get her 8th this spring.  She plays tennis with a smile on her face and gets every ball back.  She has more patience and grit than any player in school history.  She rewrote the record books at Westwood High School and looks to add to them this spring.  Southern Methodist University(SMU) will be getting a very good player who is already ready to compete at the next level.

Gaurav Singh has been the captain for the past two years and led his team to the first ever State Championship in school history.  He is the first person to be a district champion in Boys Singles, Boys Doubles and Mixed Doubles.  He has made it to state in Boys Singles(Bronze Medalist), Mixed Doubles(Silver Medalist) and hopes to break another record by making it to state in Boys Doubles.  He is also a 7 time District Champion and looks to make it 8 in a few months.  He plays tennis with a silky smooth swing and a big first serve.  Gaurav can battle with anyone and bring the heat when his team needs him most.  He is signing with Washington University-St. Louis and will look to crack the lineup right off the  bat.
