Matthew Lane makes ASU Swim Team
This week, Matthew Lane (Westwood class of 2018) was awarded a spot on the Arizona State University Swim Team. ASU is the culmination of Lane's determination and will to succeed. As a freshman he did not make the Westwood team. He spent the year working and earned a spot as a sophomore which he parlayed into a trip to Regionals. As a junior he was a State finalist and member of the TISCA All-State Swim Team. During his senior year he swam at Junior Nationals, broke the Westwood 100 yard breaststroke record, won Regionals, finaled again at State, and again earned All-State recognition. He was determined to swim for ASU. The team is coached by Michael Phelps' coach Bob Bowman. Thursday Bowman awarded Lane with a spot. ASU is one of the top NCAA programs in the country.
