After his seasons as a professional tennis player concluded, Thompson became a travel coach and senior professional for the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC).  There he helped to coach and mentor players like Francis Tiafoe, who was at the time ranked the number one junior player in the world.  His coaching expertise allowed several players to obtain Division I scholarships.  While a coach, he also coordinated and facilitated outreach clinics to bring and promote tennis to many inner-city schools in Maryland.
