Q&A with Wrestler Sohan Agnihotri

What sports do you play for Westwood ?

I am a Wrestler in the Super Lightweight class

What is your best memory you have had playing for the Warriors?

This is my first year being an athlete for the Warriors, but my involvement started in my sophomore and junior years when I helped Coach Wood and Coach Hackerd with setting up the Westwood Wrestling Team. There were times in which we believed that a wrestling team wouldn’t be possible for at least a few years, but with effort and luck, we were able to set one up. As such, my greatest memory is walking into Coach Wood’s office after my lunch and hearing the word “We did it”, marking the first time that Westwood would have a wrestling team.

What is the best thing about being a Warrior Athlete?

I think the best part of being a Warrior Athlete is always having coaches and teammates to push you to do your best in your training.

What is your favorite thing about Westwood High School?

Along with a great platform for academics, students at Westwood are given ample opportunities to participate in leadership roles in their extracurriculars, allowing them to prepare for the future.

What is your favorite class and teacher at Westwood?

My favorite hobby is designing and building racing cars, so as a result, my favorite classes are engineering and robotics. My favorite teachers are Mr. Hulsey and Mr. Wilmot because of the amount of energy and effort they put into every student they interact with.

What teams do you root for outside of the Warriors?

I am a big Motorsport and F1 fan so my favorite team is Aston Martin Racing and my favorite driver is Sebastian Vettel. As for Wrestling, I enjoy watching Kyle Dake and Sushil Kumar.

What is the best advice someone has given you?

My trainer used to tell me: “You won’t rise to the level of your expectations, you’ll fall to the level of your training”. In my athletic as well as everyday life, this advice has pushed me to train as hard as possible to always ensure that I can reach my expectations.

What advice would you give to someone that wants to be a Warrior Athlete?

Bruce Lee once said, "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times". With that in mind, find something you enjoy and practice the hell out of it until you excel.
