Q&A with Water Polo Captain Freddy Browarski

Q&A with Water Polo Captain Freddy Browarski

What sports do you play for Westwood ?

Boys Water Polo

What is your best memory you have had playing for the Warriors?

My best memory of our team was when we got our second win of our season this year winning in a close game by 1. Everybody was so energized after that game because we had come back after being down by a lot and it showed that when we put our minds to it and everybody played their part we were unstoppable.

What is the best thing about being a Warrior Athlete?

Everybody on our team helps build such an amazing community of kind and hard working people that are so much fun to be around. It’s also really cool we get to see each other at school and out of school for team bonding events and games. It’s easily the closest I’ve felt towards a team.

What is your favorite thing about Westwood High School?

The opportunities at this school are endless and it’s really cool how many different classes, clubs, and sports we have to give everyone the chance to follow their dreams and participate in activities that relate to what they want to pursue in the future.

What is your favorite class and teacher at Westwood?

My favorite class is Advanced Technical Theatre with Mr. Franco. I absolutely love tech because it enables me to release my creativity by helping create ideas for our shows as well as my leadership skills in helping guide people on what to do to accomplish a certain task. However, without Mr. Franco, the class would be way less enjoyable than it is now. Mr. Franco has been the tech teacher since my freshman year and I couldn’t have asked for anyone more knowledgeable, positive, and funny to lead us in that class and I am so thankful for having the opportunity to do projects for him.

What teams do you root for outside of the Warriors?

Because of my dad's Michigan roots, I have to root for my Detroit Lions. However, for college football my mom is a University of Georgia alumni so I tend to support them as well as Austin FC.

What is the best advice someone has given you?

Always treat others with kindness because you never know what other people are going through and something as simple as being nice to someone could go a long way.

What advice would you give to someone that wants to be a Warrior Athlete?

Go in ready to work hard, but also ready to build connections with your teammates and coaches. Especially since most sports here are team sports, you can’t try and do it all yourself plus it makes the experience more enjoyable when you make friends among your teammates. Your coaches have the job for a reason, so listen to what they have you say and do so, in the end it works to your benefit.
