2018 All-Central Texas girls soccer team HIGH-SCHOOL

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Brooke Briscoe, junior, Liberty Hill

A move-in from Springfield, Mo., Briscoe provided the final piece to an emerging girls soccer powerhouse that made its first appearance in the state tournament. Seven of her team-high 40 goals came in a 15-0 win over Cameron Yoe in the playoff opener, and she served as the Panthers' midfield talisman throughout a 27-3-0 campaign that didn't end until the state semifinals against Midlothian Heritage.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Chad Aldrich, Round Rock

Round Rock's girls soccer program reached new heights this season while earning a spot in the regional final for the first time, and first-year coach Aldrich played a major role in that historic achievement. The former coach of Vandegrift's boys team melded a scrappy squad that leaned on defense and got timely goals from seniors Hannah Banks and Grace Greenly to go 19-3-3 and win the District 13-6A title.

NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

Sofia Picucci, freshman, Dripping Springs

A midfielder with a knack for moving up and finding the back of the net, Picucci added flair to the Tigers' attack with a team-high 19 goals and 14 assists. Dripping Springs went 19-7-2 and reached the third round of the playoffs. With just two seniors on this year's squad, expect more from Picucci and her teammates next school year.

GOALKEEPER:

Maria Salgado, senior, Lanier: An often overmatched Viking squad struggled this season, going 4-10 in District 25-5A, but the dynamic Salgado shined with 143 saves while earning all-region honors from the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches.

DEFENDERS:

Kyla Boliek, junior, Liberty Hill: A rock for the state semifinalist Panthers, Boliek anchored a back row that had 23 shutouts and allowed just seven goals all season.

Kenzie Arrington, junior, Hendrickson: A stalwart for last season's state championship team, Arrington delivered another stellar performance for a Hawks side that gave up 12 goals in a 14-5-4 campaign.

Delaney Carrell, junior, Rouse: The defensive-minded Raiders won the District 19-5A title and advanced to the third round of the playoffs. The all-state Carrell keyed a side that allowed 14 goals in 23 matches.

MIDFIELDERS:

Ella Concannon, senior, Westwood: A defender for her club, the St. Edward's signee played higher up the pitch and led the 16-4-4 Warriors in both goals and assists while earning all-state honors as well as District 13-6A MVP accolades.

Brooke Briscoe, junior, Liberty Hill: The fast and physical playmaker had 40 goals with 39 assists as the District 16-4A MVP in her first season after moving into the school district.

Leah Girard, senior, Wimberley: The midfielder of the year in District 27-4A, Girard had a team-high 26 goals for a team that went 18-4 and lost to eventual regional finalist Liberty Hill in the second round.

Mia Czarnecki, junior, Austin High: A talisman at center mid for the Maroons, Czarnecki led District 25-5A with 45 goals and added 25 assists while helping Austin High reach the third round of the playoffs and set a school record with 22 wins.

Grace Greenly, senior, Round Rock: A team captain for the regional finalist Dragons, the Mary Hardin-Baylor signee set the tone for the club while setting up her teammates. Her 15 assists led the team, and she added nine goals.

FORWARDS:

Haley Shaw, sophomore, Lake Travis: The dynamic striker led the Cavs in goals (22) and assists (eight) while helping her team make a surprising run to the Class 6A regional finals.

Jewell Resseguie, senior, Cedar Park: After earning MVP honors in District 19-5A, Resseguie scored seven of her 41 goals in the postseason for the regional semifinalist Timberwolves.
