National Merit Scholars

Update:

In April 2019 both Avinav Saini and Abigail Truong were named National Merit Scholarship winners. Congratulations to Seniors Avinav Saini and Abigail Truong!

On September 12, 2018 Westwood held a ceremony to recognize the 57 students who were National Merit Semifinalists.  The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT during their junior year.  There are approximately 1.6 million entrants each year and of those 16,000 are notified that they have qualified as Semifinalists.   Semifinalists are designated on a state-representational basis. They are the highest scoring entrants in each state.

This year two Westwood Swim and Dive Team members were named as National Merit Semifinalists, Avinav Saini and Abigail Troung, and took part in the ceremony.
