Boys Soccer are Bi-District Champions

Boys Soccer are Bi-District Champions

The Westwood students, band, cheerleaders, faculty and community was out in full force last night at the Warrior Bowl, carrying the Warrior Boys Soccer team to a 1:0 First Round Playoff victory over Austin Anderson.  This means that the Warriors are one of the last 64 teams contending for the 6A State Championship.

Our goal was scored by freshman Niko Djordjevic with an assist by Caden Popps and Felipe Centeno.  The shutout was held tight, despite many quality attacks by the Trojans, by goalkeeper Justin Lang and his defenders Skylar Cupit, Philip Richardson, Avi Kacker and Jack Elliott.  The last of whom preserved the shutout early in the second half with a goal line clearance on a ball that had beaten Justin.

As you can see from the photos, it was a special atmosphere Thursday night.  If you were a part of it, thank you on behalf of the boys and me.

We will return to action in the Area round against regionally #3 ranked Spring Woods, the district 15-6A champion.  The game will be played Tuesday at 7:30 at Bryan High School, which means that you will have plenty of time to get there after locking up your classroom and leisurely walking to your car and patiently waiting in after school traffic.
