Bio

Coach Brad Hastings is entering his 20th season as a Westwood basketball coach.  He spent 4 seasons as an assistant under a long time coaching great Dennis Burton and has spent the past 15 seasons as the Head Boy’s Basketball Coach.  He attended high school at Liberty Hill High school and graduated in 1995. He was named 1st all-district in his final 2 years and named the All-Region Team in 1995.  After high school, he attended the University of Texas and was a basketball manager for Tom Penders for 1 season and Rick Barnes for 3 seasons.   

He began his coaching career at Keller High school in 2001, coaching Freshmen Basketball and asst. Golf.  After 1 year away from Austin he was hired at Westwood to be a freshmen basketball/freshmen football coach.  After 4 years as an assistant, he was hired to be the Head Basketball Coach at Westwood High School.  Over the past 11 seasons, the Warriors have averaged over 20 wins/season, and reached the state playoffs 6 times, including 3 bi-district championships (2014, 2017, 2020), 1 area championship (2020), and 1 regional tournament appearance (2020).   

Brad has been married to his wife Lauren for 11 years, she works as an interior designer for a homebuilder in the Austin area.  The two of them have two awesome young boys: Becker 8, and River 5.  They enjoy being outdoors, going on adventure walks, hitting up splash pads, and chasing their pups Ollie and Zuma around.  Brad has loved being a part of the Westwood community and is very excited about continuing to work with all the current and future Warrior hoopers
